With the 2014 World Cup in Brazil now in full and exciting flow, fanatix has
decided to take a look at the 10 best attacking midfielders so far in the tournament.
10. Dries Mertens, Belgium(梅尔滕斯,比利时) One of the few players on this list to have only played one match so far due to
his nation being in Group H.
The Napoli man came off the bench in the Belgian’s 2-1 victory over Algeria,
using his pace and trickery to score the winner and almost certainly earn himself a
place in the starting XI next time out.
9. Andre Ayew, Ghana(安德列-阿尤,加纳)
Although the Africans are yet to earn three points in the competition and
therefore look vulnerable to elimination, Olympique Marseille’s Ayew has been
feisty throughout.
The winger has been targeted by Liverpool in recent times and showed why by
netting in a surprise 2-2 draw with Germany on Saturday.
8. Charles Aranguiz, Chile(阿兰克斯,智利)
In a potentially tricky Group B that contained world champions Spain,
Netherlands and Australia, the Chileans have booked their place in the last-16 with
successive wins.
Aranguiz has supported the forwards brilliantly and even got on the score-sheet
during the South Americans’ 2-0 victory over the Spanish
7. Tim Cahill, Australia(卡希尔,澳大利亚)
With a lack of strikers in the Australians’ squad this former Everton and current
New York Red Bulls star has been tasked with leading the line. Cahill has achieved this with aplomb, netting twice in the competition and
showing the Socceroos have real grit despite having already been eliminated.
6. Mathieu Valbuena, France(瓦尔布埃纳,法国)
The second Marseille star on this list and a Frenchman who has played a key part
in his country’s impressive start to the tournament.
Didier Deschamps’ men have scored eight goals in two matches and secured
successive wins, thanks largely to the creativity and vision of this 29-year-old.
5. Christian Bolanos, Costa Rica(博拉诺斯,哥斯达黎加)
The real surprise package of the World Cup so far has been the Costa Ricans,
who have progressed from a group that also contains Italy, Uruguay and England.
They have beaten both the Azzurri and the Uruguayans, with Bolanos having
been one of the best players on the park in both encounters.
4. Mario Goetze, Germany(格策,德国)
Despite having had a somewhat frustrating first season at Bayern Munich in
2013/14, this 22-year-old has been a key part of Joachim Low’s national team.
Without many striking options Goetze has been tasked with plenty of attacking
responsibility and has not let his country down.
3. James Rodriguez, Colombia(罗德里格斯,哥伦比亚)
With Radamel Falcao injured the pressure to do well for the Colombians has fallen to his AS Monaco teammate Rodriguez.
The 22-year-old has not disappointed, with two goals in two matches as the
South Americans reached the knockout phase with a game to spare.
2. Arjen Robben, Netherlands(罗本,荷兰)
In a repeat of the 2010 final the Dutch got revenge in their opener this time
around by beating the Spaniards 5-1.
Robben netted twice in that game and also scored again as his team overcame a
resolute Australians side to reach the last-16.
1. Alexis Sanchez, Chile(桑切斯,智利)
The Chileans have joined Louis van Gaal’s men in the knockout stage from
Group B with successive victories as well, inspired by this Barcelona star.
Sanchez has been left frustrated at the Nou Camp due to a lack of consistent
first team opportunities and after these performances for his country it’s easy to
see why Arsenal are interested in the 25-year-old.
